Social Studies Field Trip

Today, we went to the Images Of Singapore Museum at Singapore. The purpose of the field trip was for us to gain content and knowledge of Singapore history for social studies this semester. We went through the museum in groups and completed a work sheet.

The most interesting thing I learned was some things a long time ago still happen now because everything seems to be so new now. Such as pencil sharpeners, spoons, plates, and a lot more.

Something that surprised me is that the museum was so tiny but it took us two hours to go through it because the museum was so interesting.

The best part of the trip was being with my group because everyone was so funny. Our group was called the shorties.

Something that I noticed about U.S. history is that both countries had something against Japan because maybe Japan was not a very cooperative country.

Facts I learned:
  • the first director of Singapore's Botanic Gardens was in 1883
  • very first director of Botanic Gardens introduced South American rubber seeds to Botanic Gardens.
  • Sur Stanford Raffles discovered Singapore
  • In 1840-1860 Singapore trade business more than tripled their money, $28 million- $90 million
  • The first president of Singapore asked Singapore to be an independent country
  • a long time ago in Singapore people wore the fabric noya embroidery
  • Alcaff invented alcaff tablewear
