My group's activity was painting activities. We ended up just using the paint brushes because the residents didn't want to get their fingers dirty. It went very fun because every single resident was excited and motivated to making a pretty painting.
The difference between the last trip and this for is the last time we only had two residents and they just wanted us to do the work. But, luckily this time we had five residents! Also they wanted to do it. Each one of our residents had something special about them. One, showed us card tricks. Second, was an AMAZING artist with a great imagination. Third, was blind so we helped him and he kept on trying. Fourth, he was talking to us in english about his life and a lot of stuff. Fifth, was only their for a bit but was smiling every single time I looked at him.
What I enjoyed the most was when one of the residents starting playing the harmonica and our group sang. He was playing the song Amazing Grace. It was really cool because had like eight pockets and each had different random stuff. Including a pocket knife! Also I thought it was sweet about how much he loved god. He even had a tattoo that was a picture of Jesus, a necklace with Jesus on the cross, lastly he drew a picture that said god bless you ALL. It was to our school!
If I got to go back, I would put the water cups in the middle of the table. This is because two of the people in our group accidentally knocked them over. But the residents were calm and didn't act angry or any bad feeling.
My biggest take-away from the whole experience was working with the residents. It showed me and taught me that everyone can be different and is different. It was really cool and amazing to see everyone being so happy at the home.

Good job! I really liked Mathew too. He was really good at playing the harmonica.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear that the resident's worked more independently than the last trip, because it might be more special to them knowing that they made it with a small amount of help! Great job!
