Fraction Division

Solve 3/4 ÷ 1/8
This problem actually means how many times does 1/8 go into 3/4. To solve this equation I am going to use a method called the reciprocal. First, I'm going to flip the 2nd fraction, 1/8, around. So now the equation is 3/4 ÷ 8/1. Now I'm going to change the division sign to a multiplication sign. Now our equation is 3/4 × 8/1. Now it is easy to multiply, first I will multiply the numerators, 3 and 8. 3 × 8 = 24. Now I will multiply the denominators, 4 and 1. 4 × 1 = 4. So our answer is 24/4. The last part is to simplify it. The simplified version of 24/4 is 6. So our answer is 6. This method works because since you flip the second fraction you can change the division sign to a multiplication sign. This works because I get the same exact answer another way(look at the picture). It also works because since you change the second fraction around, you change the division sign to a multiplication sign.
Caption : This shows another method in a picture. The purple rectangle represents 3/4, and the blue one represents 1/8. If you draw a line down where 3/4 ends to the 1/8 model, it goes to 6/8. Therefore, 1/8 goes into 3/4, 6 times.
